The 19th Annual Ron White Shoe Drive

An exceptionally frigid day back at the beginning of January saw the launch of our favourite cause, The Ron White Shoe Drive.  To kick-off the 19th Annual Shoe Drive, which has collected 35,000 shoes to-date, Canada’s very own ShoeRu Ron White, partnered with charities in the GTA to collect gently worn shoes and boots for men, women and children.

Dress for Success Toronto, New Circles, Halton Women’s Place and CAMH were this year’s charities and representatives from each organization attended the kick-off. All collected shoes are distributed and donated to those in need through each of the charities.

Toronto’s newest Mayor, John Tory, showed his support and attended the kick-off along with fashion icon and media darling Jeanne Beker, radio personality Billie Holiday and model/spokeswoman Monika Schnarre. The shoe drive showcases celebrity donations and encourages Canadians to follow in the footsteps of their favourite celebrity.  Canadian songstress, Celine Dion, along with generous souls (soles!) Rachel McAdams, Chantal Kreviazuk, Russell Peters and Hayden Christensen have all donated their shoes to the cause.

Each year, the shoe drive sheds some light on the need for basic necessities that may not be readily available for all Canadians. Winter boots can make all the difference in our harsh Canadian winters and a pair of high heels can benefit a disadvantaged woman going on interviews to gain economic independence.  It’s a new year and we all have a pair of shoes or two in our closets that we can part with.  Donate today!

Donations are accepted at all Ron White locations and are being collected until January 31.   As a thank you, donors receive $25 towards a future pair of Ron White shoes.
